I went to visit a friend today and noticed some real nasty knocking at the rear of my car on the way home. It felt so bad that it was like the back of my car falling off! I pulled over and took a look and couldn’t believe what I saw. One of my brand new shock links had separated from its bush! Luckily I was able to pull it back on at the side of the road. If it does it again, I’m going to have to work out something more permanent. What a bad design they are!
A lucky escape!

I’ve just had a lucky escape. I was out on a test drive and noticed a nasty knocking from the front of the engine. I pulled over to check and found that I’d forgotten to tighten the crank pulley bolts!
Ready for MOT
04 Jul 2020
The car is ready for MOT inspection at last. I figure I can get a few months of use out of it this year to shake down the mechanicals and then take it off the road again for the winter so I can get the bodywork sorted.
Ghetto wheel alignment
30 Jun 2020
I figured I needed to make some attempt to align the wheels before I drove it to the the MOT station, so I did the only thing I knew how & went old school with string & a tape measure. It seems I had some success because the car feels fine on the road. I’ll get it aligned professionally once I can actually drive it somewhere to get it done
Sunroof is patched for now
25 Jun 2020
My car came with a metal slide sunroof that took about 2” of headroom. This means that I couldn’t physically fit in the car without hitting my head so I cut it out. I obviously couldn’t drive around with a giant hole in the roof and I’m not ready to replace the roof yet so I did the only thing I could do any put a temporary patch in place. It was just a sheet of steel Sikaflexed and pop-rivetted to the roof with a bit of paint on it to prevent it immediately rusting. It doesn’t look bad but it’ll only be there until the winter.
